This term appeared in a text I had to translate and I'm still not sure what it means... Your help would be appreciated.

i think it has something to do with medicine that are technologically studied ans reseach for carefully to see the results it has on the people that uses those. its just making sure that the medicine is useful not harmful.

Thanks for your reply. I'm just not sure that that's all there is to it, because if biologically engineered means just what you say, that's a feature of all medical drugs.. and it would be redundant to mention that these drugs were biologically engineered because all drugs have to undergo tests on animals and humans before they are released. I thought the term "biologically engineered" refered to how these drugs are created, and I was wondering how that was...

Elmira after some digging around on Google I found this info...Bio-engineered drugs are created from proteins present in the body hence the biological part..most drugs are synthetically created from chemicals...the bio-engineered drugs are cheaper and aimed mostly at the agnd population with limited health insurance...hope this helps...Alex.

Thanks Alex. Obviously you're a better "googler" than I, I wasn't able to find something useful there... So thanks for looking it up for me, this makes sense in the translation I had to do.
